The Goals of WISCPHR are:
  • To provide professional education through sponsorship and/or promotion of educational conferences, scientific meetings, and publications.
  • To create a forum for information exchange and problem solving for cardiovascular an pulmonary rehabilitation professionals within the state.
  • To encourage, coordinate and/or sponsor research that will enhance the understanding of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation through a holistic approach.
  • To promote and increase public awareness of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation throughout the state.
  • To support the efforts of statewide standardization of care in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • To support the efforts of AACVPR and other organizations having similar interest to those of this society.

Current Board of Directors

All WISCPHR members are encouraged to participate in Board meetings and become a Board member. We are always looking for members who want to volunteer their time and talents to promote our profession in Wisconsin and the US. Our strength as a Society comes from our members and their professional experience and wisdom! Descriptions of the various Board positions and committees are listed below. Board Officer Descriptions

  • President: Presides over all regular and special meetings of the Society, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee, and serves as ex-officio member of all committees.
  • President-Elect: Assists President with organizational duties as assigned by the President, and shall assume the responsibilities of the President in his/her absence or resignation. Also acts as co-chair of the Annual Meeting Committee. After one year, he/she moves into the position of President.
  • Immediate-Past President: Assists other members of the Board as deemed appropriate by the President, serving a one-year term after which his/her responsibilities are completed unless elected to another position. Also serves as co-chair to the Annual Meeting Committee with the President-Elect.
  • Secretary: Responsible for keeping a record of all regular or special meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Membership Committee, and for giving notice of all official meetings to the Board. The Secretary also serves on the Membership Committee.
  • Treasurer: Responsible for monitoring all deposits and disbursements of funds relative to all accounts of the Society, and verifying the accuracy and currency of accounts. He/she prepares a financial report for the Annual Meeting, and also chairs the Finance and Budget Committee.

Committee Descriptions

  • Membership: Responsible for recruiting and securing members, maintaining current membership list, and coordinating efforts necessary for the Award of Excellence.
  • Budget and Finance: Responsible for all matters involving planning the annual budget and all other matters involving financial transactions.
  • Nominating: Responsible for formulating a suggested slate of candidates for each office and a ballot to be mailed to the general membership for additional nominee recommendations and official vote of suggested nominees.
  • Annual Meeting: Responsible for promoting Society activities, and will have charge of all matters related to organizing the Annual Meeting.
  • Outcomes: Responsible for identifying current trends in outcomes measurement for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and assisting individuals and programs in incorporating outcomes measures into current practices. Also responsible for management and oversight of the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation outcomes databases.
  • Program Certification: Responsible for maintaining contact with the national organization, AACVPR, on issues concerning program certification for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and communicating this information to the state's programs in the certification process.
  • Education: Responsible for the promotion and, if necessary, the administration of various education programs throughout the state for the general population, specific groups, or health care professionals involved in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Hearts-of-Gold Games: Responsible for coordinating regional and statewide Hearts-of-Gold Games for cardiac rehabilitation patients and their families.
  • Professional Liaison: This committee will work to identify and foster alliances with professional organizations that share common goals and objectives with WISCPHR.
  • Reimbursement: Serves as resource to professionals and programs for information pertaining to the existing and potential reimbursement issues concerning cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Product Sales: Responsible for the coordination of sales, promotion and budgeting of Society-sponsored products.
  • Web Site: Responsible for maintaining current and accurate web site information, recommending and initiating web site design improvements, negotiating hosting contracts, and other duties related to the web site.
