WISCPHR is currently spearheading two projects that assist member programs in the collection and analysis of program outcomes. The goals of these projects are to monitor and improve processes of care in cardiac and pulmonary rehab, and in doing so, improve quality of care for all rehab participants.
- The Wisconsin Cardiac Rehabilitation Outcomes Registry (WiCORE) a true patient-level registry for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs. This project was started in July, 2008; within its first year we have gathered data on over 10,000 patients! Diverse programs from around the country are currently participating in WiCORE, from small to large programs and urban to rural programs. WiCORE is open to individual outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs or state affiliates of AACVPR. WISCPHR is working with the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program, a program under the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, to manage WiCORE, which is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control.
- The Wisconsin Pulmonary Rehabilitation Outcomes Project (WisPRO) is a pulmonary rehab outcomes database begun in 2001. Over 40 programs from around the state and outside of WI are currently participating, and have collected data on over 3000 patients. WisPRO is an aggregated outcomes database which allows programs to compare their aggregated performance outcomes to programs of similar size or region. Outcomes are based on current guidelines of the ATP and AACVPR.
